Castle Park Redevelopment

War Memorial

The area around the war memorial has been relandscaped to give the memorial greater prominence and stature within the park.

Newly paved paths have been installed that correctly align with the memorial, with the memorial facing out onto the newly created small events space. Access and visibility have also been created from the splash pool and from Sworders Field across the bridge.

The smaller Masonic memorial has been incorporated into the design, as has the Victorian drinking fountain that has been relocated to the west of the war memorial and restored to working order including water provision for dogs. Together these contribute to a clean, symmetrical and geometric design that contrasts with the more natural backdrop.
